
Saba Gul is a MIT-educated engineer turned entrepreneur. She is the Founder & CEO of Popinjay, an online, artisan-made label that produces handcrafted products for international markets. Popinjay’s products have received global acclaim, been spotted at the Emmy Awards, carried by large retailers like Anthropologie and featured by CNN, Vogue, BBC and others. Before Popinjay, Saba worked in technology in Silicon Valley where she led product and engineering at companies like Oracle and Thomson Reuters. She has lived and worked across the world – from Sri Lanka to Ethiopia to France, and brings her international experience to her work.
Saba is a World Economic Forum Young Global Shaper, a recipient of the MIT Toyota Scholar Award, and a member of the US State Department ‘Generation Change’ team. She is regularly invited to speak on entrepreneurship and gender at forums like the United Nations, Harvard Business School, World Bank, MIT and Columbia University. Saba was raised in Lahore, Pakistan and holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Computer Science from MIT.
