
Owais Zaidi is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in launching technology driven startups and leading growth companies. He is passionate about value creation through use of technology for business and social development.
He has done pioneering work in XaaS space in Pakistan market including 2009 launch of the world’s first Managed Mobile Financial Services platform. He has helped multiple organizations plan, design and launch MFS in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.
He also managed the Pakistan’s first and largest 3rd party EFT PoS and online loyalty platform. One of the key Impact projects was Milk Supply chain automation of one of the largest packaged milk companies. The card based project not only automated the procure to pay cycle but also created a platform for data mining for offering credit and other inclusion products to the small dairy farmers in rural areas.
He recently had a one and half year stint at ChinaMobile Pakistan where he led Platforms and Partnerships initiative to expand the ecosystem and bring in new partners and solutions to drive the 3G/4G adoption.
Some of the key initiatives undertaken was to launch Cloud based EMR and facility automation solution for healthcare sector and a localized on line learning platform for disseminating education to masses leveraging mobile technology. He championed a Public Cloud platform at the Telco to provide scalability and commercialization to the Pakistani startup community.
Owais is currently working on launching pakistan’s first Digital Lending Company utilizing Machine Learning and Big Data. He also manages Pakistan’s most premium coworking space The Hive at Islamabad.
Owais actively evangelizes open source technology and believes in power of collaboration through crowd sourcing and social networks. He has delivered lectures across South Asia and Middle East on electronic payments and commerce, founding and managing startups and financial inclusion.
